First of all, I empathize and sympathize with the peaceful protestors wanting a change with everything going on, especially with the latest cases of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd. These things are completely unacceptable, heinous, and evil. Watching the video on George Floyed was extremely disturbing to watch. I also understand that these are just the tip of the iceberg. For anyone to be judged solely on the color of their skin is utterly ridiculous. I pray for the family’s of these victims and for the hurting people of our nation and around the world.
Peaceful protests, such as those demonstrated by Dr. Martin Luther King, is without question understandable and necessary. I see you, hear you, and empathise with you. I hurt for you. I mourn and weep with you. I am angry too. Like Sam Cooke so eloquently put it “A change IS gonna come”. No race, ethnicity, skin tone, etc. is above any other. We are all human. We all bleed the same color, feel the same emotions, cry the same tears. “Under the skies, under the heavens, we are all family...it just so happens people are different” - Bruce Lee. “Love one another” - Jesus Christ
With that, we must also be vigilant. We must arm ourselves with the truth. The violence, looting, arson, and anarchy only serves to destroy the cause, destroy our communities, and destroy our nation. A house divided can not stand. There are those who use these demonstrations, assemblies, and protests as an excuse to further their own agenda. They do not sympathize with your cause. They do not care about your voice. The only change they want to see is what will further their own cause. They want to see the country burn. They want to see anarchy. They want to see a “Divided States of America”. They want civil war.
Make no mistake, evil exists. The actions of the officers that killed George Floyd were evil. The actions of the men that killed Ahmaud Arbery were evil. The actions of violent rioters are evil as well. The actions of organizations capitalizing and taking advantage of your peaceful protests are evil as well. “The finest trick of the devil is to persuade you that he does not exist” - Charle Baudelaire. Evil can not cast out evil. Only good can do that. Hate can not overcome hate. Only love can do that.
My prayers are with the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and all of the others affected by these tragedies, including those that would keep peace like the officers killed by the violent acts of the few.
God bless you, and God bless America.
